Rob Gerhard | Founder
Rob, a founder of Umbono Capital and elder at His People Church, Johannesburg, is passionate about building Christ’s Kingdom in all areas of society and life. He carries the “doubled-edged sword” of callings to business and to the five-fold church ministry where his primary functions are in the prophetic and teaching realms. Rob is a chartered accountant (SA) and CFA charterholder with 18 years experience in finance, strategy and investment banking. Over the past 13 years Rob and the Umbono team have built Umbono’s natural resources investment portfolio from a negligible starting capital base to a portfolio of ~$200m. During this time, Rob has maintained a strong leadership role is university campus ministry in South Africa where His People Campus Ministries reach many thousands of students across multiple universities in the major cities of the country.
Dorian Wrigley | South Africa Based Strategic Leadership of LIT
Dorian directs the activities of LIT in South Africa from a strategic point of view. He also serves as Managing Director of Umbono Capital in South Africa- directly responsible for its African Investments. With backgrounds in engineering in the power sector, investment banking and strategy consulting he has helped to build Umbono as a successful investment company and participated in transactional and investment activities in Europe, North America and Africa. Dorian also serves as an elder and pastor of the His People Christian Church in Johannesburg. He is passionate about mentoring and developing Christian business leaders and equipping them with a biblical world view.
Roger is a CA(SA) who holds both B Com and B Acc degrees from the WITS University. He completed his articles at Arthur Andersen where he won the Employee of the Year award in 1990. Roger is the senior pastor at His People Johannesburg, consisting of 14 congregations, he heads up the SA regional team of Every Nation and serves on the Every Nation International Apostolic team. Roger is founder of Atcor, a successful accounting training company in South Africa and served on the SGB, the SA body drafting the standards for Accounting and Finance. Roger actively participates in various community education projects. He is a founding Director of the Alex Education Project and of the Hope Factory. He has been involved in the field of education for the past 12 years. Roger has a passion to see lives transformed through discipleship in the word, the power and presence of God.
Dr. Serge Solomons | LIT Director, Lead Trainer and Lecturer
Serge qualified as a Medical Doctor in 1996 from the University of the Witwatersrand and has over 15 years of experience in clinical medicine. He has also successfully pioneered a church ministry, as senior pastor of His People Ministries in Namibia where he grew the ministry to over 600 members with a staff compliment of 16. He was a director in a company managing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects and has led various leadership facilitation programs with various corporate organizations. He lectured at and sat on the Boards of the Namibian Evangelical Seminary (NETS) and the African Leadership Institute (ALI).
Taryn Hinton | LIT Chief Operating Officer
Taryn acts as Operating Officer for LIT and plays similar key roles in several organizations related to Umbono South Africa including the Umholi Trust (focused on Christian Leadership development in South Africa) and the Inhlakanipho Trust (focused on high school education development in South Africa). Taryn is a lawyer having obtained her BA LLB (cum laude) from Natal University. After practicing law at a leading South African firm, Bowman Gilfillan for 6 years, she began working in the non-profit sector and specialized in educational trusts, non-profit companies and public benefit organizations.
Rutendo Kruger | LIT Western Cape Director
Rutendo completed a degree in Architecture at UCT. While a student there, she was inspired to apply her faith to her studies, and she became a full-time campus minister with a vision to impact other students with the same message. For the last 10 years, she has been reaching students on campus in Cape Town, establishing biblical principles in their lives; training and empowering them to not only apply their faith to personal salvation, but to their vocations to impact society and change the world. She has a dream to see Africa transformed by young Christ followers, in every area of society.
Carol Mkize | His People Pastor: WITS University
Carol currently serves as a campus pastor at Wits University with some 1,000 students in her ministry. Her roles include leading the campus ministry team and on-campus Sunday services, leadership training, mentorship, counseling and co-ordinating leadership conferences. Carol also serves as a trustee of the IEDT, an educational trust in South Africa associated with the Umbono Group, and as trustee of the Umholi Trust, a trust associated with Umbono that acts as the key financial support to LIT in the early stages.
Langa Mbonambi | His People Pastor: University of Johannesburg
Langa serves as the campus pastor for His People Campus Ministries on the University of Johannesburg Kingsway Campus. He is passionate about raising young leaders that will transform society to the glory of Jesus. Langa is also the founder of the “WWW- We Will Worship” movement that arranges worship sessions, concerts, recordings and musician support for a South African “new sound”.
Bill Anstruther | LIT Curriculum Development and Research
Bill has over 55 years experience as a Pastor and Bible teacher. He has been responsible for the training, development and mentoring of church leaders, and for many years was Principal of Bethel Bible College, training men for full-time ministry. During this time he developed courses for the College. He has also worked in many countries in Africa overseeing the establishing and organizing of hundreds of congregations and serving as their elected leader for about 15 years. His main interest is in helping to develop people to enable them to fulfil their God-given callings.
